RCD Testing

A fixed RCD is an RCD that is installed on each circuit in your switchboard.

A functioning RCD can save your life in the event of an electrical fault. Like any mechanical device, faults do occur that may render the RCD inoperable, this is why it is so important to ensure your RCD functions correctly at all times.
There are two types of test that we can perform at Spectrum these are push button test and a trip time test.
The regulations for vary state to state for Pushbutton tests in Qld these are:

Construction – monthly
Manufacturing – 6 monthly
Office – 6 monthly
Service – 6 monthly
Amusement – 3 monthly

Construction – 12 monthly
Manufacturing – 12 monthly
Office – 2 yearly
Service – 12 monthly
Amusement – 6 monthly

3 Phase Power Testing

In order to successfully Test and Tag a 3 Phase appliance, there are three tests you can perform:
· an Earth Bond(an essential test)
· Insulation Resistance and Leakage test.

For a PASS, you require: Earth Bond has to be less than 1?, the Insulation Resistance has to have a minimum of 1 M? and the leakage test has to be less than 5Ma.

Microwave Radiation Leakage Testing

Radiation leakage from electronic equipment presents problems because the energy source is not clearly defined. The location of the leakage source has to be found by trial and error. When we check the microwave we determine if the radiation from the use of the microwave is seeping through the seals.

The microwave leakage at any point 50mm or more from the external surface of the appliance shall not exceed 50W/m2 (5mW/cm2).

Exit Light Testing

Emergency and exit light testing are required to do every six months under Australian Standards 2293.2.

At Spectrum, we provide the following checks
· 90-minute battery testing either using manual testing or circuit breaker testing.
· Inspecting and replacing bulbs and lights as needed. Inspecting and replacing diffusers.
· Inspecting and replacing batteries.
· Cleaning all light reflecting surfaces to ensure maximum illumination.
· Checking for compliance with current safety standards in terms of distance and sign type.
· Providing you with a report of all work done.

Fire Extinguishers Testing

Fire Extinguisher Testing is a requirement of AS1851:2012 in accordance with the Queensland Development Code MP6.1.

At Spectrum we maintain and test all fire extinguishers as part of the routine 6 monthly, annual and 5 yearly requirements as listed in AS1851:2012.

We will keep your fire extinguishers compliant and notify you of any defects. We also issue a full report.

Fire Blanket Testing

Portable fire blankets are inspected in accordance with AS1851 Section 11 on a six (6) monthly basis.

Hose Reel Testing

Fire hose reel systems are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1851 section 9 on a six (6) monthly basis this also includes a flow test.

Fire Door and Shutter Testing

Fire doors and shutters are inspected annually and tested in accordance with AS1851 section 12 on a six (6) monthly basis.
