- Ensure there are no gaps below the barrier bottom rail or panel greater than 100mm
- Ensure gaps between vertical bars are no greater than 100mm, and that horizontal surfaces on your pool safety barrier are greater than 900mm apart

- Raise the Pool Safety Gate Latch (finger grip) to no less than 1500mm from the ground level below and no less than 1400mm above the highest of the lowest horizontals, usually bottom rail
- Glass Gates & or Panels must not have a vertical gap greater than 10mm, within 450mm of the Latch. The Glass Gate latch must be no less than 150mm from the top of the gate

NOTE: These are the most common, but not conclusive of all Pool Safety Guidelines.
From 1 December 2010, pool safety certificates are required when selling or leasing a property with a pool or spa. Pool safety certificates must be obtained from a licensed swimming pool safety inspector. If selling or entering into an accommodation agreement for a property with a pool or spa, then a pool safety certificate must also be obtained from a licensed pool safety inspector.
